Ceiriog Valley anti-turbine
campaign goes on the net
THE CEIRIOG VALLEY Action
Group which is fighting to stop the indiscriminate siting of some of Britain’s
biggest wind turbines in one of North Wales’ most unspoiled beauty spots, goes
live today with its own website.
Anyone calling up http//www.cvag.campaign.btinternet.co.uk will be able to learn the facts about how
the proposed application for three giant 300ft high wind turbines at Cefn Coed,
Glyn Ceiriog, threatens to turn the
beautiful Ceiriog Valley into an ugly science fiction landscape.
‘The Campaign Against’
details the disastrous impact the turbines would have on the surrounding
environment, bird, animal and
plantlife, cause disruption to the water table, reduce property values and
threaten the tourism trade which provides a lifeline to small businesses in the
Valley.
Copies of press releases
issued by the CVAG, and contact details of campaign officers are also included.
Said CVAG Chairman Kyron
Lawford: “The website helps give the people of this Valley a voice in our fight
to be heard. We stress again – we are not against ‘green’ energy or wind-generated power – but there are
places for wind turbines, and one of the most unspoiled and beautiful Valleys
in North Wales is not one of them.
“The Government has targets
to meet in reducing dependence of
conventional coal-fired power stations – but that doesn’t give local
authorities carte blanche to nod agreement to any or every application to put
up wind turbines. They need to be in the right place – and from just about
every environmental standpoint, this is the wrong place.”
